Overview tour
What secrets are hidden in Vienna's MuseumsQuartier?
Between baroque facades, contemporary art, and green courtyards lies the MuseumsQuartier—Vienna's open-air living room. This tour opens your eyes to the stories, tensions, and ideas that shape this place.
Covering an area of around 114,000 m², the MuseumsQuartier is a multifaceted space that bridges the past and the present. More than 60 institutions share an area that, with its courtyards, seating areas, and open paths, has become a daily meeting place for many—green, lively, and accessible around the clock. More than five million people come here every year.
The overview tour reveals what holds this place together at its core. It tells the story of its development since it opened in 2001, the transformation of the imperial stables, and the idea of an open cultural space in the heart of the city. Our guides combine architecture, use, and everyday life into an overall picture and show why the MQ is more than just a museum for many: it is a piece of urban home.
