daily, 10:00 – 22:00

The MQ Libelle at Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier is a rooftop terrace open to the public that offers impressive views of the city. Since its opening in 2020, it has uniquely combined architecture, art and the urban experience.

On September 4, 2020, the MQ Libelle cultural terrace opened on the roof of the Leopold Museum in the MuseumsQuartier. With free admission, it offers visitors a breathtaking view of downtown Vienna and as far as the city’s surrounding hills. From here, you are high above the city and yet right in the heart of the vibrant activity of one of Europe’s largest cultural districts.

The eponymous space, shaped like a dragonfly, was designed by Laurids and Manfred Ortner, the architects who transformed the MuseumsQuartier site into its current form in the late 1990s. The MQ Libelle creates a new space for art and cultural projects above the rooftops of Vienna. Two of Austria’s most prominent female artists have designed the central elements of the terrace and the structure. Eva Schlegel designed the MQ Libelle glass wall, while Brigitte Kowanz created the iconic lighting fixtures on the terrace.
