It’s nothing new: simply looking at greenery reduces stress for city dwellers. Pockets of biodiversity are good for bees and people alike! Green corridors of fresh air bring cool air on hot summer nights. How can cities provide better living conditions for all living things?
Vienna and Bratislava, situated just 50 km apart, have been working together as part of an Interreg project to find solutions to the challenges posed by the climate and biodiversity crises. This is because, in addition to a shared history, Vienna and Bratislava also share similar natural characteristics. Austrian and Slovak local authorities, cultural and environmental organisations have spent three years working with local residents to design urban green spaces. Pilot sites were brought to life as part of the EU-funded project.
