The Resourceful Leap
Severe droughts, wildfires, record temperatures and heat-related deaths – yet another summer has starkly highlighted the effects of climate change. Swift and concrete action is needed. The construction and property sectors, in particular, must make a significant contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions. Planning has a key role to play in this. How can we make the transition to climate-neutral environmental design and regenerative architecture?
3XN/GXN combines architecture, research and design to develop circular and regenerative solutions for construction projects.
In his talk, ‘The Resourceful Leap – regenerative architecture through local resources and collective knowledge’, Aleksander Guldager Kongshaug of GXN discusses GXN’s current projects on CO₂ reduction, circular regeneration and the use of vacant properties for affordable housing.
This also raises the question of how concrete solutions can emerge through collective dialogue. In Denmark, proposals were developed in this way and, working together, people successfully exerted pressure on political decision-makers to advance climate targets.
The idea of the agora – of shared exchange – has been part of the MuseumsQuartier’s concept from the very beginning. To mark its 25th anniversary, the ‘Vision & Resistance’ exhibition in the Freiraum also takes up this idea. We have therefore invited HABITAT2030 (Katharina Kothmiller-Chorherr, Markus Zilker), ig-architektur (Fabian Wallmüller) and Architects For Future (Christian Stelzer) to the Libelle at the MQ. These organisations, too, are strongly committed to climate-neutral construction.
