MQ Forecourt

As part of the ImPulsTanz Festival, Public Moves offers free outdoor dance and movement classes every day on the MQ forecourt (main courtyard) of the MuseumsQuartier. These classes, which are also suitable for beginners, are led by various international instructors who teach styles ranging from hip-hop to contemporary jazz.

Public Moves invites you to immerse yourself in the magical world of Indian movement, which unites two beautifully contrasting dance traditions. The first half of the class celebrates the golden age of Bollywood—vibrant, romantic gestures, playful step sequences inspired by folk dance, expressive facial expressions, and the unmistakable joy of classic Hindi film dance. Let go, feel the music, and have fun!

In the second half, the energy turns inward as we are introduced to Indo-contemporary – a mindful fusion of modern Western techniques with ancient Indian practices from yoga and classical dance. Here, the breath guides the movement, the body finds its natural flow and dance becomes less about steps than about presence.

Together, the two styles offer a full experience of Indian dance culture – joyful and meditative, expressive and introspective, accessible and layered all at once.
