Architecture from Austria in Africa and Asia 1955–1989

In 1981, as a student, Erich Raith traveled to Egypt as part of an interdisciplinary study tour initiated by Anton Schweighofer. The excursion took them to Cairo, Giza, and Saqqara, as well as to projects by Hassan Fathy and Ramses Wissa Wassef, who are known for their visionary contributions to the development of local building culture. Formative experiences from the trip and the analysis of on-site studies on urban planning and architectural history will be part of this retrospective.

With Erich Raith, architect, eyewitness, professor emeritus, Institute of Urban Planning, Vienna University of Technology.
