Anna Vasof produziert mit ihren Animationsmaschinen faszinierende Non-Stop Stop-Motionfilme, die sich über angestaubte Trickfilmkategorisierungen (Stichwort Einzelbildtechnik) elegant hinwegsetzen. Expanded animation at its best.
Am 17.02. gibt sie anlässlich der Eröffnung ihrer ASIFAKEIL-Installation im Raum D / Q21 einen persönlichen Einblick in ihr künstlerisches Schaffen.

A video installation showing mechanisms that produce Non Stop Stop Motion films. Non-Stop Stop-Motion is a new animation technique in which a video camera continuously films a motion change illusion caused by the “stop-motion” properties of the space where the camera is placed.
The final movie has similar intermittent movements as in Stop-Motion animation technique, however its media reflective nature has a stronger influence on its content and form.
In order to create a Non-Stop Stop-Motion movie it is usually required to set up a sequence of incremented objects or images which are named hyperframes. In each movie those hyperframes are placed in a specific way in certain places. A fixed camera on a tripod is not always enough to ensure the filming of the sequence. That’s why the camera is often mounted on mechanisms or machines which enable it to move.

Biography:
Anna Vasof is an architect and media artist. Born in 1985, she studied architecture at the University of Thessaly (2010) in Greece and Transmedia Art (2014) at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Since 2004 her videos and short movies have been presented in several festivals, some of them winning distinctions. She’s currently working on designing and building innovative mechanisms for producing critical and narrative videos, actions and installations.
