Mai 2007 - Mai 2007Tampopo aka Philippe Bertrand is a music composer, live-act, visualist, label owner and all-round artist from Toulouse, France.
Born in 1963, he started his musical and visual adventures in the mid-nineties by setting out on a crusade to re-establish bad taste in Techno and House Music in his pure Sumodehouse style!
After two of his tracks were included on International DJ Gigolo Records compilations, Tampopo released his first single Sumo Da House on the German label in 2001. At the beginning of 2004, Tampopo signed to the notorious Cologne-based label Trapez Ltd.
Together with his bad lieutenant Supakaji, he founded his own netlabel Sweet Smelling Surfaces in 2004 - a playground where friendly musicians and visual artists can share their art and offer it to the world.
As one part of his project, Tampopo will work on a special Vienna-Edition of his project The Tampopo TV. The project is based on re-worked photos coming from his personal collection and pictures "sampled" from the internet. Three split personalities - called Tampopo, The Misstress and Kin*G - are displayed on the reworks as avatars. In these new “mutant images”, the avatars are the actors – replacing and ‘deleting’ their real life counterparts. TTV version 4.0 will give them a chance to enter Vienna!
Tampopo will also dedicate the third issue of the Sonic Sity Samplers to Vienna. Those samplers will focus on the actual production of modern music in a specific city. The first compilation in development will delve into the electronic music scene in Glasgow, Scotland. Bangkok has been proposed for the second issue and then Vienna.

Born in 1963, he started his musical and visual adventures in the mid-nineties by setting out on a crusade to re-establish bad taste in Techno and House Music in his pure Sumodehouse style!
Since this moment he released several singles on notorious labels in Germany, France and Belgium.
Together with his bad lieutenant Supakaji, he founded his own netlabel Sweet Smelling Surfaces in 2004 - an internet playground where friendly international musicians and visual artists can share their art and offer it to the world. More than 50 releases are available online exploring all genres of modern electronic musics. And the catalogue is on full expansion...
As one part of his project during his stay in Vienna, invited by Play.fm and the Quartier 21, Tampopo will work on a special Wien-Edition of his project The Tampopo TV (a digital slideshow). The project is based on re-worked photos coming from his personal collection and pictures "sampled" from the internet. Three split personalities - called Tampopo, The Misstress and Kin*G - are displayed on the reworks as avatars. In these new “mutant images”, the avatars are the actors – replacing and ‘deleting’ their real life counterparts and creating new visual ‘miniature’ fictions. TTV version 4.0 will give them a chance to enter Vienna!
Tampopo will also dedicate the third issue of the Sonic Sity Soundscapes to Vienna. Those online compilations, created for the Sweet Smelling Surfaces netlabel, will focus on the actual production of modern music in a specific city. The first compilation in development will delve into the electronic music scene in Glasgow (Scotland). Bangkok (Thailand) has been proposed for the second issue and then Vienna. A fourth one is at a starting point in Melbourne (Australia).
Tampopo will present the catalogue of Sweet Smelling Surfaces on air, taking the waves of the Play.fm station on a weekly radioshow.
