MQ Freiraum is the exhibition space of the MuseumsQuartier Wien. It hosts exhibitions of contemporary art. The focus is on artistic explorations of socio-political and sustainability-related themes.

Information

  • Free admission for children and young people under 19, people with disabilities and one accompanying person, the Professional Association of Visual Artists, the IG Bildende Kunst, the International Association of Art, Hunger auf Kunst und Kultur, the Association of Austrian Art Historians, and holders of the ICOM Card and the MuseumsQuartier Card.
  • Guided tours require a valid admission ticket to the MQ Freiraum. There are no additional costs.

Vision and Resistance – How the MuseumsQuartier Changed Vienna

through January 25, 2027

Twenty-five years after the MQ opened, the exhibition looks back on the turbulent history of one of the world’s largest cultural complexes. Through drawings, plans, models, and works of art, the exhibition traces a broad arc from the Baroque court stables to the “Messepalast” and on to the planning and construction of the MQ.
