MQ Forecourt

As part of the ImPulsTanz Festival, Public Moves offers free outdoor dance and movement classes every day on the MQ forecourt (main courtyard) of the MuseumsQuartier. These classes, which are also suitable for beginners, are led by various international instructors who teach styles ranging from hip-hop to contemporary jazz.

With “Unbalancing”, Public Moves asks how we can joyfully give up balance. How do we find new points of balance while having fun? The class explores movement through a mix of speed, release, stretching, improvisation techniques and the constant interplay between stability and the loss of balance. The exercises invite participants to challenge their control, develop momentum and move efficiently, smoothly and with dynamic precision. Through technical exercises and improvisational approaches, we find our own comfortable and joyful way of playing with gravity.
