On 13 August, Sandra Gugic will be reading from her new novel "Niemand weiß, dass wir hier sind". Hans-Joachim Gögl will be making his debut that evening, presenting his work "Vatertag". The evening will be hosted by Sebastian Fasthuber.

Sandra Gugic “Niemand weiß, dass wir hier sind”
A woman moves with her family from Berlin to Tel Aviv-Jaffa. It is not her first attempt to start afresh in a new place, but whilst her partner settles in quickly, she remains an outsider. In search of answers, she travels through the West Bank and Israel, collecting the stories of the people she meets. Then comes 7 October 2023. Violence and counter-violence – in a cascade of destruction, an entire world teeters on the brink. And whilst the sirens wail and rockets fly overhead, the woman tells stories to her child on the playground. She herself seems to stand on the sidelines, observing, listening – and attempting, under the pressure of a present pushed to extremes, to bear witness.

Hans-Joachim Gögl “Father’s Day” (book launch)
Who lives a better, more fulfilling life? A father and son have never seen eye to eye on this matter. When the father dies, the son begins to try out the life of a father on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In doing so, his own life begins to change. A unique story about closeness and estrangement, told with equal parts sensitivity and humour.
