ELSA – that’s the four-piece band led by singer and songwriter Elsa Steixner. Growing up in an artist household in Vienna, she was shaped by an openness that still resonates in her music.
With their second album “JUMP!“ (2025), the band takes a leap into new sonic worlds, making a mark through a rare balance of emotional intimacy and musical freedom: strong, memorable songs combined with an improvisational openness that keeps every performance alive and unpredictable. Rooted in a shared jazz background, the band consciously steps beyond genre boundaries, shaping a sound that flows between art-pop, folk, blues, and experimental spaces. On stage, the striking chemistry between the four musicians becomes tangible. They stay in constant exchange - stretching songs, embracing silence, taking unexpected turns, and returning with remarkable precision. You can feel the mutual trust in the risks they take and the joy in how they respond to one another. This strong inner core allows for freedom, genuine vulnerability and – fun!
Having received multiple awards, including a nomination for the Austrian Amadeus Music Awards (AT), the Audience Award at the Jazz Festival Avignon (FR), and a selection for the largest Dutch traveling showcase festival Popronde (NL), ELSA has built a strong international presence and tours regularly throughout Europe. In 2025, the band made concert appearances at renowned venues such as Porgy & Bess, the Wiener Konzerthaus, and the Wiener Festwochen such as Recording Sessions at the Abbey Road Studios in London.
