Free Kiosk Culture

An iconic K67 kiosk will become a gathering place in the public space this summer.
Starting June 10, a new form of urban programming will launch at Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier: Through September 13, the Freie Kiosk Kultur initiative will transform the lawn in front of Raum D on the MuseumsQuartier’s forecourt into a vibrant intersection of everyday life, art, and cuisine. Following initial events last year, the kiosk will now become a summer gathering spot in the public space.
From Wednesday through Saturday, a selection of wines, drinks, and snacks curated in collaboration with Estudio Schumi offers high-quality refreshments in the spirit of modern kiosk culture.
On select Fridays, a rotating program of musical performances, DJ sets, and artistic interventions transforms the space into an experimental stage. The project sees itself as a social infrastructure that builds on the idea of the kiosk as a neighborhood gathering place and reinterprets it for the contemporary era.
Freie Kiosk Kultur (FKK) sees itself as a platform for creative practice in public spaces. At its heart is the K67 kiosk by Slovenian architect Saša Mächtig—a design classic with a striking visual impact.
