The eSeL Art Swap is back! For one day only, you can drop off unwanted artworks at the mumok Café and take home new finds easily and for free—including a mumok catalog as a reward!

“One wo/man´s trash is another wo/man´s treasure!“ Bring us a piece of art… that you can’t stand—and pick a piece of art… that someone else can’t stand!

Just under ten years ago, the “Horrible Art“ swap event sparked a lot of discussion as part of the exhibition “Scandal Normal?!“ at O.K. Linz / OÖ Kulturquartier, as well as at the “365“ Offspace Festival at the MASC Foundation in Vienna. Following numerous debates about artistic taste, quality, and value, eSeL is once again inviting people to a large-scale swap of unloved artworks—this time at the mumok Café in Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier.

The Art Exchange deliberately appeals to different communities, generations, and tastes in order to make works of art that are unloved, misunderstood, or underappreciated available to others as free bargains.

The eSeL Art Exchange addresses issues of taste, value, and sustainability in artistic production in a humorous way, while also serving as a social space for lively discussions.

A collaboration between eSeL.at and mumok – Museum of Modern Art, Ludwig Foundation.
