In a guided tour of the exhibition, Ferdinand Schmatz, writer and catalog author, artist Tobias Pils, and exhibition curator Manuela Ammer explore the question of what kind of language painting speaks.

Tobias Pils counts among the most exciting painters working today. With great consistency and sensitivity, he has developed a signature visual language that eludes quick readability, counting instead on the power of ambivalence. His oeuvre is characterized by an in-depth investigation of the history of painting that still actively seeks dialogue with the present. In a reduced, often almost austere world of colors, visual realms unfold in which the personal becomes the general and the intimate achieves monumentality.
