A day to celebrate the senses. On Sunday, September 20, artist Tolia Astakhishvili's exhibition on mumok's Level -2 transforms into a place to touch, smell, listen, taste, and linger for the day.
With an open Activity Station for painting and experimenting, music, free cakes, and many more participatory programme points – no registration required. The space is brought to life by artists and initiatives extending Tolia Astakhishvili's world around her exhibition “Figure of the Child” with formats of their own.
Programme
10:00 – 18:00: Open Activity Station: Colour & Imagination for the Whole Family
How does an exhibition change when its visitors help shape it? Tolia Astakhishvili understands the “figure of the child” as a symbol of imagination and creative action. Our Interactive Activity Station welcomes the whole family. Experiment together with colour on endless paper, following your own ideas and imagination.
13:00 & 15:00: Workshop: What's That Smell? Every Breath a Possible Scent
Scent takes centre stage in this workshop. Led by Alexander Ehrmann, Jeanette Müller, and Paul Divjak (Saint Charles x Olfactory Futures Lab, University of Applied Arts Vienna), the museum becomes a layered olfactory space – drawing on the research project Sensing Living Systems, participants create their own scented essences to take home.
14:00 – 17:00: Tea Tasting & Pottery with rami
Join us for an afternoon of tea and clay. Taste a selection of teas from rami tea while shaping your own small tea bowl from clay – no previous experience needed. A relaxed afternoon to slow down, get creative, and enjoy some time for yourself.
14:00 – 17:00: Cake Buffet: Vegan Delights from lovekitchen A treat for the taste buds.
The mother-daughter duo Elsa and Eschi Fiege offers vegan apple cake, cookies and more for a sweet pick-me-up.
14:00 – 18:00: Music: Paul Ebhart (Sounds Better With You): For the ears, Vienna-based sound system
Sounds Better With You invites you to listen and come together, providing the musical accompaniment for the afternoon.
