THE MATERIAL SHOW & The Roots of Small Fires
At MQ Freiraum, the MuseumsQuartier Wien is presenting the exhibition “THE MATERIAL SHOW.” Twelve national and international artists explore materials such as concrete, stone, wood, metal, and glass – the very substances that shape our built environment. Situated between construction and demolition, use and decay, the exhibition focuses on the material, social, and ecological foundations of architecture and invites visitors to see the familiar in a new light.
At the same time, the MQ is presenting “The Roots of Small Fires,” Milica Živković’s first institutional solo exhibition in Vienna. In a large-scale installation featuring newly created works, a poetic interplay of memory, uprooting and re-rooting, light, and darkness unfolds. Painting, fabric, and space come together to form a stage between the past and the future.
