Tiffany Sia: Overt Listening
Sign language interpreter Eva Böhm and an art educator will guide visitors through Tiffany Sia’s exhibition.
Tiffany Sia’s first institutional solo exhibition in Austria presents the film “Overt Listening”. Taking the Taiwanese Kinmen Islands as its point of departure, the work examines the aftermath of the Cold War and the geopolitical tensions that continue to shape the region today. In a multilayered film installation, Sia combines historical sites, landscape footage, sound recordings and both oral and official narratives into an essayistic work. Because sound, radio voices and acoustic signals play a central role in the piece, a key focus of the guided tour is to make this auditory dimension visible and tangible, and to convey its significance for the film’s narrative structure.
