Tiffany Sia: Overt Listening

Tiffany Sia (b. 1988, Hong Kong) examines how histories are constructed, circulated and remembered. A new film, shot on the Kinmen Islands in Taiwan – just a few kilometres off the Chinese coast – is the starting point for the exhibition “Overt Listening” that explores how the legacies of the Cold War continue to influence everyday life. In Sia’s spatial installation, cameras, broadcast technologies and infrastructures of surveillance are approached as not merely a means of documenting the world, but as systems that shape perception, movement and power.
