The German entry “STRESSTEST” at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale showcases the MQ TreePods as an example of practical solutions for climate adaptation.

The temporary greening of the MuseumsQuartier with the modular MQ TreePods, developed by DnD Landscape Architecture, illustrates how urban spaces can be effectively protected against rising temperatures.

The exhibition concept in the German Pavilion is divided into two sections: STRESS and DESTRESS. In the STRESS rooms, visitors experience firsthand just how stressful extreme heat can be in cities—a situation they can feel directly on a physical level. The DESTRESS rooms, on the other hand, showcase possible solutions: green infrastructure, smart cooling, and climate-adapted architecture—including the MQ TreePods.

Under the slogan “MQ goes Green,” the MuseumsQuartier is advancing its vision of an energy-efficient and environmentally conscious cultural complex. The goal of the initiative is to establish a climate-neutral complex by 2030. “The temporary MQ TreePods are part of the ‘MQ goes Green’ project and will cool the MQ courtyards in the future, thereby enhancing the visitor experience. “We are very pleased that the German Pavilion is presenting our project to an international audience, said Bettina Leidl, Director of the MuseumsQuartier Vienna.
