Rita Hasani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Advanced Integrated Design, specializing in Fashion Design. Her work as a Design Assistant at Fight or Flight Studio involves sustainable fashion projects, costume design, and material innovation. Notable projects she has contributed to include “Throwback to Wonderland” (SubsTanz, 2022), “The Artists of Tomorrow Award” (Stacion, 2023), the “Mothers of War exhibition” (2023), and the latest Fight or Flight project and exhibition, “Living Threads” (Paper Gallery, 2024). In these roles, she assisted in costume and production design, spatial installations, and the support of contemporary art exhibitions. Her achievements include being a finalist in the Frankfurt Style Award (2020) and receiving the KAMA Award for best design (2019). As a young fashion designer, her goal is to promote sustainability in fashion by rethinking traditional design methods and exploring innovative materials to create a more eco-conscious future.

Project Info

The aim of the project is to transform sustainability into an art form by creating an experimental journal using biotextiles as both the medium and the message. Through daily or weekly experimentation, she will create small biotextile samples, each reflecting themes such as biodiversity, climate change, and waste reduction. These samples will form the “pages” of a physical or digital journal, documenting the materials’ evolution and their potential applications, showcasing the entire process of how they came to be. The potential outcome will include a completed biotextile journal as a work of art, inspiring viewers to see textiles as more than just functional objects and highlighting the creative process and materials behind each piece. The aim is to share knowledge about biotextile creation and encourage reflection on sustainable practices. The project seeks to connect art and sustainability, sparking dialogue about eco-conscious creativity and the interconnectedness of humans and nature.
