Project info

During her residency at MQ, Luna Ali is working on her project “Ausländer werden“. This is an experimental writing and reading movement that asks what kind of language is needed to develop disturbing noises from individual memories and experiences that prevent thinking in delimitable cultures.
In this sense, this collection of essays writes its way in and out as part of a small literature (Deleuze and Guattari), into Arabic, out of the German language, out of the Mediterranean as a space of thought and culture, into the domestic peripheries and diasporic centres, out of political and into experimental literature. Especially now, in the face of increasing racist politics that yearn for cultural purity, literature is needed that embarks on a textual escape with the reader in order to find itself again at a destination that is the foreigner of us all.
