Liza Neklessa (1989, Moscow, Russia) is an artist and poet. She has participated in artistic and literary projects in Russia, Great Britain, Germany, France, Kazakhstan, etc. Her poetry collections with illustrations “A Sieve Full of Berries” and “The Phenomenology of Death: A Few Notes” have been published in Russia and the UK and are represented in the British Library, the Education Center of the Museum of Contemporary Culture Garage and the House of Culture GES-2 (Moscow).Igor's last solo exhibition took place in 2023 at CСI Fabrika (Moscow). The book “Phenomenology of Death: A Few Notes” was included in the list of the most important poetry books of 2018-19 by the editors of Feminist writing. The poetry collection “A Sieve Filled with Berries” was included in the top 10 most important poetry books of 2022 by the literary critic Lev Oborin. Since 2019, she has been included annually in the Russian Investment Art Rating I LIKE, which represents contemporary artists under the age of 37. Liza is interested in folklore, mythology and the relationship between visual art and modern poetry, resulting in a new multimedia work.

Project Info

During her residency at MQ, the artist creates an authorial myth based on the mystical perception of nature. This series, created in a time of humanitarian crisis, is a search for new meanings, symbols and reflections on a new interaction between man and nature.
