Fariba Haidari was born in Afghanistan and grew up in Iran. In addition to her nursing training, she completed courses in photography and film production. This artistic education laid the foundation for her later work combining social engagement and cinematic expression.

After returning to Afghanistan, she made several documentaries and short films. She also organised and led workshops and training courses in film and photography, both within her own organisation and in collaboration with international institutions carrying out similar projects in Afghanistan, particularly those promoting girls and young women.

In 2012, Fariba Haidari moved to Sweden, where she has since made two documentaries and a short feature film. She is currently working on a screenplay for a feature film and developing two new documentary film projects. Today, she works as both a nurse and a filmmaker.

In 2024, Haidari won the Expanded Shorts category at the this human world – international rights film festival with her film "Leila".
