Their works are mostly based on a skepticism vis-à-vis any matter-of course approach to identity. They investigate the representation of individual and collective belonging, the meaning of language, symbols, and information conveyed by the media, as well as their link to culturally coded patterns of understanding. The conceptual character of their practice is connected with the traditional visual language of avant-garde art forms.

Persuasion Exercises, 2011

Propaganda posters are used to convince masses; they convince people to take a side. They are an explicit attempt to influence beliefs, attitudes and/or behaviours by using different strategies.

Persuasion Exercises work reflects the usage of body postures at the political parties’ propaganda posters. For the work, an actor rehearsed the postures of various politicians from the 2011 election campaign posters in Turkey. At the end of each rehearsal, the actor was photographed when he acted out the final pose. These photographs were transformed into black and white graphics and numbered like some type of gym exercises and displayed on a billboard at the city center of Ankara during the election period in 2011.
