Tyler Adams explores perceptual relationships between sound, space, and vision through installation, sculpture, video, writing, and other media. Central to his work is a pure fascination with sound as an artistic medium as well as a modality for perceptual understanding that is often in broad contrast to the visual.

Generally stated, the goal of working at Quartier21 with the support of a Fulbright Scholarship is to examine the relationships between sound and space, an extension of my artistic and research practices.  More specifically, this area of work is focused upon how sound impacts movement through space.  Namely, the ways in which sound may be used to accelerate or slow movement, expand or contract a sense of space, divide or unify, construct or dissolve spatial barriers.  This is not simply a formal exercise but also an investigation into the social, political, cultural and perceptual dimensions of aural-spatial relationships.
