Chim↑Pom will exhibit works as part of the exhibition "Japan Unlimited" at frei_raum Q21 exhibition space which focus on the issue of censorship which has become more and more strict in Japan. Chim↑Pom has been known for being one of the most controversial artist collectives / artists in the country for responding to Japan's radiation disasters in a contemporary manner, from the atomic bombing of Hiroshima to the nuclear meltdown in Fukushima. Since the aforementioned nuclear disaster in Fukushima in 2011, censorship has gotten worse and our freedom of speech ranking which was n.°11 in 2010 has plummeted to n.°69. Within that context, we organized an exhibition focusing on restrictions and censorship and created versions of our work concealing parts that organizers had problems with, publicly exposing this issue.
