We would be happy to assist you in planning and organizing your green event. We view sustainability as an integral part of everything we do. By using resources thoughtfully and responsibly, we actively contribute to the long-term preservation of our historic event spaces and ensure they remain available as unique event venues for years to come.

Sustainability Plan

With approximately 110,000 square meters of space and around 60 cultural institutions, the MuseumsQuartier is one of the world’s largest arts and culture complexes and a hub for people to come together in the heart of Vienna’s bustling city center.

As a premier event venue, we are committed to acting in an environmentally and economically responsible manner, thereby making a significant contribution to the preservation of our planet.

Our historic event spaces—the Ovalhalle, Arena21, Baroque Suites A, B, and C, and the Mezzanine—as well as the MQ Libelle, which opened in 2020 on the roof of the Leopold Museum, offer a wide range of options for creating a customized program for up to 700 guests. Whether it’s a lecture, press conference, product presentation, Christmas party, or wedding celebration—the MQ has the perfect venue for every event. Our exclusive technology partner ensures we always have the latest state-of-the-art equipment, allowing us to guarantee the best possible execution of multimedia hybrid events.

Thanks to its central location in Vienna’s 7th district, the MuseumsQuartier is well connected to the public transportation network and can be easily reached by subway, tram, and bus, as well as by bike or on foot.

To us, sustainability means...

  • to encourage people to engage with the issue and to change their mindset,
  • to prioritize local suppliers when selecting our exclusive partners, thereby ensuring short transport distances and supporting the local economy,
  • accessibility to all event spaces,
  • a conscious approach to water use by reducing flow rates in catering kitchens and restroom facilities,
  • the conversion of all light sources to LED,
  • that at least 50% of the electronic devices installed in our facilities bear the Energy Star label, are TCO-certified, or have an ISO Type 1 environmental label,
  • the use of sustainable and eco-friendly cleaning and hygiene products,
  • to prioritize repair over disposal.

We do not view sustainable practices as an option, but as our obligation to ensure that our historic event spaces remain available as venues for many generations to come. We firmly believe that even small, individual actions contribute to the greater good, and since we only have one world, we want to treat it with the respect it deserves.

We’d be happy to help you plan and organize your “green event”—because the future is green!

Our action plan is continuously updated to document future goals and implement them step by step.
