As part of the exhibition parcours “TRACING ARTISTIC PRESENCE” on June 10, 2026, the SRA travels back musically to the year 2002 and presents selected highlights (photographs, flyers, playlists, memorabilia, etc.) from its time at the MQ.

The SRA (SR-Archiv österreichischer Popularmusik) was the first institution selected by a jury to move into what is now the MQ Showrooms. The archive relocated to the MQ in May 2002 through a public happening: under the title Tontragen (“Carrying Sound”), a human chain of volunteers wearing numbered badges passed the archived sound carriers from Stiftgasse to the new location in the MQ. In doing so, the SRA – very much in the spirit of a “pop archive” – brought archival and commemorative practices into the present.
