ORF's Long Night of Museums at the mumok
A night filled with art, sound, and creativity: As part of the Long Night of Museums on October 3, mumok invites you to enjoy a diverse program for all the senses until midnight.
mumok is currently presenting two special exhibitions that span all levels of the museum: “Terminal Piece,” a group exhibition that introduces a new approach to exhibitions and collections at mumok, and “Figure of the Child,” the first solo museum exhibition by artist Tolia Astakhishvili.
Short guided tours, a musical performance on the exterior of mumok, and an open studio transform the museum into an interactive space for visitors of all ages.
Program
18:00 – 18:30: Sound of Wall – CID RIM live on the facade
Venue: Level –1 (below the foyer)
To kick off the Long Night of Museums, Viennese electronic musician CID RIM will bring the museum’s striking lava basalt façade to life with his live percussion, transforming the iconic building itself into an instrument. Clemens Bacher, alias CID RIM, has made a name for himself internationally with his blend of jazz, electronic and club music.
18:00 – 23:00: Disco Drawing with live visuals
Venue: mumok cinema (white room) / Level –4
Our cinema is transformed into a picturesque dance floor and the walls become a moving sculpture. Grab a pair of headphones, follow the beats and sounds, and let your pen dance freely across the canvas. In doing so, you yourself become an interactive work of art: we capture all the voices in the room and transform them into a live visualisation, which we project onto the walls straight away!
Suitable for all ages
No booking required. First come, first served.
18:00 – 23:00: Lichtspuren
Venue: mumok cinema (black room) / Level –4
At our various interactive stations, you’ll have a go at painting together. With music in your ears and using only non-verbal communication, you’ll create a collaborative artwork in pairs or groups on our illuminated easels. Or you can grab one of our fluorescent light tablets and let your imagination run wild in our cosy cinema seats.
