For Christian Schwarzwald, drawing is much more than a means of depiction. It is the root of all form: a language that articulates feelings and thoughts, directly and immediately.
The MQ Art Box becomes an installation space where faces composed of lines and dots explore the spectrum between abstraction, emotion and digital coding. The title AIDIOTS in C plays on the achievements and failures of artificial intelligence. AI generates seemingly realistic images that, however, often reveal absurdity and cause aesthetic irritation. So Schwarzwald creates an allegory of the visual expression of our time.
Christian Schwarzwald (born in Salzburg in 1971) is an artist and professor of graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. He lives in Vienna and Berlin.
