No Gods Land
In the surreal world of “No Gods Land,” myths and dances detach from their origins and mutate into new realities. The new stage work by Ulduz Ahmadzadeh is a tribute to embodied knowledge that has stood the test of time.
Four anthropomorphic beings wander among the remains of past civilizations. They collect fragments of buried worlds and perform rituals where human memory and familiar systems of order no longer function. Among the ruins, they search for forms of existence that do not yet have a name.
Ulduz Ahmadzadeh’s many years of research have been devoted to pre-Islamic dances from the Persian plateau. In the new opulent stage work with the ATASH عطش contemporary dance company, she breathes new life into them in virtuoso and dynamic choreographies, transporting them to a surreal world: in the ruinous expanses of “No Gods Land,” myths, symbols, and dances detach themselves from their origins and combine to form new constellations. This TQW premiere is a tribute to embodied knowledge that has stood the test of time and encourages new affiliations in its perpetual transformation.
