Viennese indie pop musician Modest Oda blends dreamy guitar sounds with melancholic lyrics, synthesizers, and retro vibes.

When Modest Oda makes music, it sounds like there’s more to it. More thoughts captured while riding the subway, more of what’s been held back being set free, more acceptance of letting go. It sounds like the essence of creative processes. And like the inner transformation that accompanies us as we continue to evolve.

Lukas Wassermann in real life — Modest Oda on stage — is a wanderer between worlds, in more ways than one. His musical journey began in an alternative rock band, took him through a singer-songwriter phase, and ultimately led to his current electronic indie sound, characterized by depth and sophisticated attention to detail. “The only constant is change” — Heraclitus would approve.

In recent years, Modest Oda has also made a name for himself with his impressive live performances in Austria and Germany. His music is now heard in many countries around the world, with radio airplay not only in Europe but also as far afield as the United States (KEXP).
