A performance about the colourful world of ants. They are small, but there are many of them. There are almost a million different species. They come in all sorts of shapes and colours.

Many of them live hidden away – down below. Under tree bark, under stones and under our feet. They scuttle, burrow and crawl. They are incredibly strong, incredibly fast and incredibly intelligent. Insects – the smallest and most species-rich class inhabiting our planet.

We explore their cohesion and how they interact. We transform ourselves into ants living in vast colonies, dance like bees, scurry about like earthworms and mimic the shield formations of firebugs.

How do you make yourself heard, and how many little ones does it take to make a big one? What does it mean to be part of a group, and how does it feel not to belong? Who am I within the group, and who am I without it? And what happens when an ant walks backwards?
