The Monster Project

Not for colors, not for shapes, not for what’s supposed to come out of it. I just start drawing. But somehow it takes shape, and I imagine it’s breathing. It has snake eyes. Suddenly it’s three-dimensional and swells up. And when you look at it, it gets a cool name that you make up. We can invent creatures in the blink of an eye; we start with one, and before you know it, a second joins in, then a third, a fourth… They’re monsters. If we want, we can put them in an encyclopedia. Or we can set them free, and they’ll float around everywhere. And if we get stuck? Then it’s snack time, a round of ping-pong, or just some downtime.
