Vienna (OTS) — After five successful years, Bettina Leidl will continue to serve as managing director of the MuseumsQuartier Wien for another term. Following a public call for applications and selection process, culminating in a hearing, Bettina Leidl was appointed by the general meeting of MuseumsQuartier Errichtungs- und BetriebsGesmbH for another term.

Since taking on her role in 2022, the experienced cultural manager has driven the strategic development of the MuseumsQuartier with a clear focus on ecological transformation, opening up to the city, enhancing the visitor experience, and fostering greater collaboration among the institutions. With “MQ goes Green,” the enhancement of public spaces, and the planned construction of the House of Austrian History, key steps have been taken to shape the future of the MuseumsQuartier.

Vice Chancellor and Minister of Culture Andreas Babler congratulates Bettina Leidl on her reappointment: “In recent years, Bettina Leidl has provided important impetus for the further development of the MuseumsQuartier, combining cultural excellence with social responsibility and a clear vision of the major issues of the future. The MQ is not only one of Europe’s most significant cultural complexes, but also a place where art, the public, and social exchange come together in a unique way. I warmly congratulate Bettina Leidl on her reappointment and look forward to our continued collaboration as well as the next steps in the development of this cultural venue, which is so important to Austria.”

Vienna’s City Councilor for Culture, Veronica Kaup-Hasler, emphasizes: “I warmly congratulate Bettina Leidl on her reappointment as director of the MuseumsQuartier. With 61 cultural institutions and over five million visitors annually, the MQ is one of the largest art and culture complexes in the world. Characterized by diversity and openness to the world, it has long been a place of international appeal where people come together to experience culture. In recent years, Bettina Leidl has not only strengthened the venue’s distinctive character but has also consistently developed it with foresight. At the same time, important future-oriented initiatives—such as sustainability and opening the complex to the city—have been advanced. I am very pleased that she will continue on this path—toward a communal space where art, culture, and sustainable urban development go hand in hand.”

Bettina Leidl, Executive Director of the MuseumsQuartier Wien: “For me, the MuseumsQuartier is far more than just a cultural complex. It is a place where art, the city, and society come together—an open space that can continually change and reinvent itself. I am very pleased by the trust placed in me and by the opportunity to lead and shape the MQ for another five years. In recent years, we have initiated important changes. Now it’s time to take the next major step forward: opening the MQ even more to the city, consistently driving forward its ecological transformation, and at the same time strengthening the international appeal and excellence of its institutions. I am very much looking forward to shaping this future together with the institutions, artists, staff, and our partners.”
