For one evening, the MQ main courtyard was transformed into a lively choreography of movement, sound, and objects.

In "Sofamaschine," contemporary dance, live music, and heavy machinery encountered the iconic MQ courtyard furniture Enzi and Enzo — turning the public space itself into a participant.

Inspired by the historic horse ballet of the 17th century, the courtly spectacle was translated into the present day. Instead of horses, dancers, forklifts, and Enzis moved through the courtyard. Architecture, furnishings, and everyday life merged into a performance that showed the MuseumsQuartier from a completely new perspective.

The Enzis were not only used, but also played with, moved around, and staged. They symbolized the MQ as an open urban space where art does not take place behind walls, but in the midst of life.

The Enzi Ballet was part of the celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of the MuseumsQuartier and demonstrated how versatile, surprising, and experimental the MQ main courtyard can be—as a place for encounters, movement, and shared experiences.
