Chaos, 2023 © Matea Kovač
The image shows a high-contrast black-and-white depiction of a human figure against a deep black background, with the body only partially visible and appearing in a dynamic, slightly twisted pose. Due to the harsh lighting and blurring, the contours and details appear fragmented, creating an abstract, almost ghostlike effect.

Project info

During her residency at MQ, Matea Kovač, together with sculptor Ana Maria Maravić, will work on developing visuals for a picture book, which they plan to adapt into a short animated film in the near future. This residency will allow the artist to explore the intersection of different media—sculpture and animation—blending both to create a distinctive artistic style.
