Martin Markeli: Open Studio “still, it’s so Candy”

As part of the ORF Long Night of Museums 2026, artist Martin Markeli will not only offer a glimpse into his studio, but visitors will also be able to actively interact with his installation. 

Martin Markeli was shaped by the era when model racetracks made their way into the prosperous society of the 1970s, with the car serving as a status symbol for young and old alike. Thus, the racetrack serves as a canvas for the perception of a society focused on speed and competition. The artist explores these aspects in his installation. He presents them in a landscape featuring fast cars and various iconic figures from the world of consumerism. The artistic exploration takes place within the context of the car racing scene or arena. The aim is to stimulate all of the viewer’s senses. At the center is the interaction between the artwork and the audience, which is established through a playful approach.

Please note: The studio is not accessible.

Tickets are available in advance and on the day of the event at the MQ Point and the MQ Freiraum. A single ticket grants access to all participating museums and cultural institutions during the ORF Long Night of Museums.
