Julischka Stengele - Bodies of Water

Julischka Stengele - Bodies of Water

Kunst & Erregung will be the debut night of the latest event series Salon Différance, an original cooperation between the Institute of Science and Research (IWF) of the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK) and Tanzquartier Wien. The first part will focus on art that arouses – both body and soul. At the centre of this evening will be the crossing of borders and breaking of taboos, that might turn into disgust or shame, as well as the deliberate employment of sexuality. Especially the second half of the 20th century has seen many an aesthetic-theoretic concept and artistic practice make use of these strategies of provocation, critique and subversion. Even pornography – not least from a queer-feminist point of view – has been re-examined to the same effect.

Urban Planning Has to Continually Adapt to the Burning Issues of Our Time. Societal change, climate change, digitization, rising land prices — these are some of the aspects that impact directly on planning and on the design of urban developments. At the final event in the lecture series Zukunft Stadt (Future City), a critical debate will be held with guest experts from the field, from the university and from the administration to examine and explore new areas of responsibility in planning.

In light of a disastrous mixture of unleashed financial economy, ecological destruction, dismantling of solidarity-based models of coexistence, and data colonizing capitalism, … why portrait busts made of plasticine?
