Pata (Patrick Huter) is a drummer, percussionist, DJ, and musicologist. With his band Turist and in his DJ sets, he blends music that is consistently geared toward the dance floor and characterized by driving rhythms. Geographical boundaries play a secondary role and serve, at most, as a guide for his musical explorations.

The focus is on the exchange between the coasts of West Africa and South America, whose (pop) musical developments have influenced one another over the decades. Particularly in the 1960s and 1970s, the use of European instruments and recording technology, combined with local musical traditions, led to ever-changing, energetic dance tracks.

Patas' sets focus on live music with a strong rhythmic foundation, dense percussion, and room for instrumental solos. Psychedelic elements, repetitive structures, and up-tempo rhythms keep the energy flowing on the dance floor.

The repertoire ranges from Colombian cumbia with accordion to Caribbean salsa with distinctive horn sections, and even Peruvian cumbia psicodélica with surf guitars. The spectrum is complemented by West African Afro-funk with distinctive organ sounds, as well as influences from Anatolian rock with distorted baglamas and guitars that breathe new life into traditional melodies.
