For many years, Dieter Schärf, also known as d.schaerf, was in charge of the music and lineup at Café Leopold, as well as DJ bookings for the DJ Box in the MQ’s main courtyard. Weekendsounds and Wintersounds at the MQ were events he developed in collaboration with the restaurant owners and the MQ, and which he oversaw from 2002 to 2017. Since 2015, he has increasingly been working with Buero3 as an event equipment rental provider and continues to support the MQ, as well as Impulstanz, the Viennale, and the Volkstimmefest, among others. As a DJ this time, he’ll be braving the wind on the summer stage with vinyl and grumbling that he’s not allowed to use Serato. Musically, he’ll be playing everything from downtempo, funk, jazz, soul, and Afrobeat—whatever his limited vinyl collection has to offer.
