Mezzo-soprano Truike van der Poel, Bass Andreas Fischer are members of the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart. Established in 1984, the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart specializes in contemporary vocal music. Together they will perform a cappella pieces in the exhibition representing a continuation of Escalier Du Chant realized in 2011 for Munich’s Pinakothek der Moderne where Nicolai commissioned eleven international composers to write songs based on political events that were of current relevance.

Founded under the artistic management of Musik der Jahrhunderte, the vocal chamber ensemble has been artistically independent since the year 2000. Each of the seven concert and opera soloists, with a collective range reaching from coloratura soprano over countertenor to "basso profondo", shapes the work on chamber music and the co-operation with the composers and other interpreters through his/her distinguished artistic creativity.

Andreas Fischer studied Voice and Music Education in Stuttgart and in Vienna. He has performed in numerous world premieres as a member of the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, and as a soloist and conductor. He is particularly interested in music theatre. In 2000, he sang the role of Perseo in the opera Perseo e Andromeda by Salvatore Sciarrino at the Festival d’automne in Paris, in 2001 the title role in the world premiere of the opera Bacon by Manuel Hidalgo at the Schwetzinger Festspiele, and in 2003 the role of the Benefactor in the world premiere of Hilda Paredes' opera The Phantom Palace at the Festival of Arts and Ideas in New Haven, Connecticut and performed all bass parts in the world premiere of Brian Ferneyhough’s Shadowtime at Munich Bienale, at Festival d’automne Paris, at the English National Opera in London and at Lincoln Center Arts Festival in New York.

Truike van der Poel first studied classical philology in Leiden, then singing in Den Haag and choir conducting in Rotterdam. Since then she concentrates on singing. Besides the baroque and classical oratorio she is especially engaged in the interpretation of contemporary music, and has performed at Warsaw Autumn, Davos Festival, Musica Viva (Munich), at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, at IRCAM in Paris and others. She was a permanent member of the Balthasar Neumann Choir (Thomas Hengelbrock) and the Schola Heidelberg (Walter Nussbaum) and worked as guest with the Ensemble L’itinéraire and the Ensemble Resonanz. She was soloist in world premieres of vocal chamber music by Salvatore Sciarrino, Carola Bauckholt, René Leibowitz, Dora Cojocaru, Thomas Stiegler, Erik Oña, Caspar Johannes Walter and many others and she is the "voice" of the Thürmchen Ensemble in Cologne. Since 2007 Truike van der Poel is member of the Neue Vocalsolisten.
