DORIS UHLICH - Boom Bodies
• Days with event
Location: TQW / Halle G
“I look at the dancers. There is something inexplicable for me. I ask myself why the movement concept of removing boundaries flashes like that. The discharged boom energy triggers something existential in me, both when I watch it as well as when I dance it. I go in search of it. What bodies do you need in order to consider alternatives and changes? What bodies do you think in?” (Doris Uhlich)
The present draws boundaries and constructs closed systems. It creates areas of anxiety in which we move. How does this present inscribe itself in us, in our physicality? In her latest work, Boom Bodies, with eight international dancers, Doris Uhlich explores a dance technique dedicated to opening up, plumbing boundaries of the unloading of energy and then longing to employ energy in order to move the surroundings, the outside world – an unloading of energy that the body understands as the epicentre of action and change. For Doris Uhlich, “space” is a body similar to the human one. Thus in this work not only one’s own but also the flesh of the space is set in motion. An energy is developed in order to trigger possibilities that understand the dense complex of the present as a moveable body. Boom Bodies rubs itself against this body and its mechanisms.
