Petra Stegmann

Currently working on the project "The lunatics are on the loose ..." EUROPEAN FLUXUS FESTIVALS 1962-1977, which starts with a series of exhibitions in summer 2012 with various European partners.

Chairperson of the non-profit association DOWN WITH ART! e.V., created in 2011 with the aim to organize exhibitions, conferences, publications on anti-artistic tendencies. 

Curator of the international exhibition project FLUXUS EAST, that toured in Europe from 2007 to 2011; it was shown in Berlin (Künstlerhaus Bethanien), Vilnius (Contemporary Art Centre), Cracow (Bunkier Sztuki), Budapest (Ludwig Múzeum), Tallinn (KUMU Art Museum), Copenhagen (Kunsthallen Nikolaj), and Oslo (Henie Onstad Kunstsenter). 

Previously work for the Goethe Institute Warsaw, the Maecenata Institute, Berlin, and the House of World Cultures, Berlin, where she conceived and organized conferences (MIGRATING IMAGES, with Peter C. Seel; THE RE-TURN OF BEAUTY, with Peter C. Seel/Ackbar Abbas) and curatorial projects (THE PERFECT HUMAN BEING, THE SENSUAL CITY, THE BEAUTIFUL SOUL, with Peter C. Seel/Ackbar Abbas), and co-curated the CULTURBASE encounter CULTURAL VERSUS NATIONAL BORDERS.
